Busy shooting weekend
It actually started Thursday evening, as I headed out to Rock Hill Sports & Event Center to capture mixtape footage for JQ during his AAU basketball game. While there was plenty of drama on the court, I had some of my own as I encountered a battery crisis while recording. They were draining faster than usual, and the only extra spare I had was in the car. And the car was in the parking deck. I was able to run to the car to grab the spare while my client was on the bench. That quick move kept me from missing his first shot of the game.
Saturday had me in Concord for a car show. I was told admission was free. So we went in after they checked our camera bags for guns and contraband (just kidding) and we entered. I took ONE pic of a cool looking car before we learned it cost $30 PER PERSON to get in.
We bolted!
Next stop: NoDa. We patrolled the streets, cameras out, looking for interesting subjects. Not gonna lie. NoDa doesn't do much to arouse my desire to shoot. Grabbed a few shots of some vendors and structures, and we were outta there.
The last place my camera saw action that day was the Overlook at CLT Douglas International Airport. The overlook is a cool place to take the family to watch planes take off and land. The only two bummers: very little shade cover, and the overlook is further from the runways from previous overlooks. But I was still able to grab a few cool shots. Then it was time to finally get out of the stifling heat the day had brought.
I ended the weekend by taking a cool pic of my son, doing what he and his peers do best, staring at a screen. I liked his position in the frame, the foreground and background colors, and the intensity of his focus.
I don't know where my camera will lead me this week. Wherever it is, I hope it's fun and exciting.
And I hope you're going to be a part of it!
