whew!

Since my last blog on August 10th, I have:

  • Been to Atlanta, GA
  • Been to Hickory, NC
  • Purchased new gear
  • Upgraded existing gear
  • Watched my son start his first job
  • Met and filmed some incredible guys at the Kilborne DIY skate park

That's a lot of activity! So it's great to be back to share my latest blog with you.

about the upgrades

I decided it was time to invest in myself and my work. That allows me to improve my workflow and give my customers amazing quality at amazing prices.

The biggest investment was in a new camera. I made the leap to the Canon R5 Mark II.

Why? I'm so glad you asked!

Canon put so much technology and improvements into the R5 Mark II that it enabled me to only have to carry ONE camera when I go out to shoot. Previously I needed one camera for portraits and street photography, and a different one for my sports business.

Not anymore! Thanks Canon!

The other upgrade was a power move. Literally.

I spent too much time on mixtape shoots worrying about my batteries running out. Video eats batteries for breakfast, and having to switch them out without missing the action is a juggling act.

During one recent basketball shoot I had to run to my car (in the parking garage) to get batteries they were dying sooner than expected (I'm too old to be doing all that running 😂).

Problem solved! My new setup includes a single battery that powers my camera and recorder at the same time. I get 3 hours of mixtape recording on a single charge. I got to test it out this past weekend at Cox Mill high school and it was pure joy not worrying about dying batteries.

gearing up...

Getting all geared up and warmed up for Fall basketball. My goal is to shoot at least one game per week between

now and mid November when the Varsity/JV season starts.

Here's hoping we cross paths on the courts.

I'll be shooting my shot, and hope to capture you shooting yours too!
