Welcome Back!
It's great to be back in front of you with my latest blog post!
The past 10 days had no shortage of fun and adventure!
From the Kilborne DIY, to Lake Wylie, to AMF University, and NYC, my cameras (and my feet) kept me VERY busy 😂.
I try to strike a delicate balance between being IN the moment and capturing the moment. I usually do a terrible job with that because I have SO MUCH FUN capturing the moments that help define my love for photography. Hope you enjoy the photos as much as I do.
kilborne DIY skatepark
I finally made it! Armed with both cameras and a cooler full of ice cold waters and Body Armor, the skaters were kind enough to let me shoot them doing what they love, skating! Got to see a few familiar faces from Eastland, as well as some brand new (to me) ones.
One thing I love about the new spot is the wall of trees that surround it. Provides constant protection from the sun on hot days, making the experience so much more enjoyable.
The one downside: MOSQUITOS! I got eaten up 🫤. Still wondering what God's purpose for mosquitos is.
lake wylie
My student wanted to get out and shoot, and suggested Lake Wylie. I was down for it.
What I didn't know is that he meant McDowell Nature Preserve in Mecklenburg County.
I thought for sure we were headed for South Carolina! But since McDowell is on the NC side of Lake Wylie, I was cool with it.
While I personally didn't find a lot for my camera to get excited about, I did grab a few shots that I really enjoyed.
Perhaps on a future visit I'll get to see more of it or go at night and capture the sunset and the lights and reflections of the homes along the shore line.
AMF Bowling - University
Didn't know I could bowl, did you?
I took some youngins (including my son) out for a night of strikes, spares and gutter balls.
Guess who the king of the lanes is? ME 😂.
They put up a good fight, but they were no match for the OG 😉.
New York CIty
Every year we trek to NY to visit my family.
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. My mom still lives in the apartment we grew up in. East New York (the section of Brooklyn we lived in) has changed a lot over the years, as has much of the Big Apple.
Thanks to my younger brother Chris and the 24/7 subway system, we were able to visit Hudson Yards, The Edge, Penn Station, and Dumbo (featuring multiple attractions along the piers at the base of the notorious Brooklyn Bridge).
The park at Pier 2 featured at 10 goal basketball court, pickleball courts, ping pong courts, soccer area, and roller skating!
The cover image was taken 101 stories high above the city at The Edge.
New York is just one huge tourist attraction 🤣.
Up next...
BOND BALL IS LIFE AAU basketball tournament in Winston-Salem, NC for a client wanting a mixtape.
If you're going to be there, hit me up for pricing on pics or flicks. I can hang around until around 4pm for additional clients.
Your social media will thank you for it 😉.
Have a great weekend!
